    Description

    Charles John Huffam Dickens [1812 1870]
    was a prominent English writer and social critic who created some of the world's best known fictional characters and is regarded by many as the greatest novelist of the Victorian era. His works enjoyed unprecedented popularity during his lifetime and he is best remembered for his Christmas classic ''A Christmas Carol'' which was written in 1843. Listed for auction is a stunning display which contains the authentic autograph of Charles John Huffam Dickens signed on a English postal mailing envelope. The envelope is addressed to a John Westland Marston who was a English dramatist and friend of Dickens. The envelope is dual postmarked on the verso SP 24 1851, SP 25, 1851, and is affixed with a One Penny postage stamp on the front. The cover is completed in his hand and signed ''Charles Dickens'' in black ink in the lower left corner. The postal cover measures 5.00 x 2.75 inches, it has toning/edge wear with a small tear in the right bottom corner otherwise in very good condition. Authenticity...…. The autograph has been authenticated by JSA Authentication and will be accompanied with the above Letter of Authenticity. The display is centered around a wonderful colorized photograph of Charles Dickens working at his desk. Mounted next to the photograph is the postal envelope and mounted below is a professionally engraved metal plaque which contains a quote from Charles Dickens and reads as follows, Charles Dickens February 7, 1812 - June 9, 1870 ''Have a heart that never hardens, and a temper that never tires, and a touch that never hurts''. The display itself is stunning and has been professionally assembled in acid free materials as follows, each item has been triple matted with a beige/gold linen outer matte and accented with a blue and gold inner matte. The display has been assembled in a quality heavy-weight ornate gold wood fame to the dimensions of 23.00 x 17.00 inches. It is a wonderful example, completed and signed in his hand, authenticated, beautifully framed and ready for display with your collection.
