    Dap
    The curved shell of the mulberry tree, on one side of which a sheep skin membrane is stretched, there are two types of dapa. Small “negme dapi” (“näghmä däpi”), 25-30 cm in diameter, almost indispensable tool when playing mukama, plays the most important role in the instrumental composition (margul “märghul”). The big dong “chon dap” (“chong dap”) is used when accompanying other instruments, or solo. The third and largest type of dapa is believed to have magical power, was used by Uighur shamans in healing rituals (Bakshi “baqshi” or Pyrgun “pirghun”).
